Testimonials
Minyoung Kim. Currently enrolled at UCL for Biological Sciences.
As a student whose mother tongue is not English, I always found using English difficult. Thankfully, my English improved so much with Yasmin. I learned English from her for three years, and I was so glad to study with a tutor who is kind, passionate, and knowledgeable! She always organized sessions for me to develop my English skills. For instance, when she recommended a book, I wrote an essay after reading it, and we had a discussion about debatable topics from the book. She always gave useful comments on my writing and speaking, such as how to pronounce words correctly. With her, my English has enhanced so much that I transformed from a student who previously spoke English poorly to one who can study at a university in the UK without any problems. I would definitely recommend Yasmin to anyone who wants to improve their English!
Noel Chidwick. Founder of Shoreline of Infinity.
Yasmin came to Shoreline of Infinity on the recommendation of her Edinburgh University professor. We were looking for someone to help raise the profile and awareness of the magazine with a younger generation of science fiction readers, and also someone to 'muck in' generally with the various jobs we do as an indie press.
I was impressed right from the start with her knowledge of science fiction, her enthusiasm, and her friendly manner. Add to that her willingness and ability to learn, Yasmin very quickly became part of the Shoreline Editorial Team. Yasmin showed her skills as a diligent proof reader of the magazine. She took on the role of Publicity and Marketing Editor with relish, and came up with a workable and achievable action plan, which she presented well at an Editorial Team Meeting. Yasmin took on the task of managing our social media outlets; she needed little supervision, and built up a good following for Shoreline on Instagram.
As Yasmin began to understand how Shoreline works - the editorial team consisting of freelance creatives working together independently - she was able to make valuable contributions at our editorial team meetings, and also working with myself. She was very useful in helping me to remodel the website, for example. Yasmin excelled at our live events, working at the sales table. She made herself known to the audience and readers, and quickly worked out how to explain and promote Shoreline of Infinity. We had our best sales at The Cymera Festival, and I'm sure having Yasmin at the table was a major part of that.
Yasmin was also equally adept at Cymera at talking with the authors who appeared there, and became a valuable ambassador for Shoreline of Infinity.
